It has break some world record as regards its flight range and flight speed. At the time it was launced in September 1967, it is the largest plane and it was only the IL-62 variant was available then. IL-62M is the version that enterd the commercial service in March 1974.

The plane is made from about 4 million components, components made by 1500 companies, gather from 30 different countries around the world but was assembled in the south of France.
Dubai-based emirates are so much fond of this plane, in fact, there is no US buyer. In late 2021, Airbus decides to stop the production of this very plane.

For the construction of this plane, composite materials constitutes of about 50 percent of the primary structure, multiple panels is used and joined end to end using a single pieces barrels joined at each end as well.
The airplane is well designed, it has large windows, in fact the toilet was made to accomondate a wheel chair. From the first flight, the 787s had carried about 420 million people.
